Information:
------------

Windows 2000 RIS services include an option to allow third-party tools to be
accessed and run by client machines during network (PXE) boot-up. The Intel
Boot Agent (IBA) tools suite is a set of these tools used for updating and
diagnosing Intel NICs via boot-up from a Windows 2000 RIS server.
The included utilities are:

* IBAUTIL - used to 1) enable/disable the Boot Agent, 2) set/unset the
Wake-on-LAN bit, or 3) display the current status of either of the
above. It is also used to update the flash contents on the NIC.
* DIAG100 and DIAG1000 - runs the diagnostic suite (loopback tests, responder
tests, etc) on supported Intel adapters.
* IBACFG - used to configure boot agent options, such as delay time, etc.

Installation Instructions:
--------------------------
IBA Tools setup may only be installed on a Windows 2000 server running
Remote Install Services (RIS) only. The server must have DHCP enabled with a
valid range of free lease IP addresses. Additionally, "Maintenance and
Troubleshooting" must be enabled under the Client Installation Options menu.
See 'requirements' below for instructions on enabling Maintenance and
Troubleshooting on the RIS server.

1. Insert the IBA Tools Installation CD into the CD drive on the Windows
2000 RIS Server (if installing from a CD)
2. From the CD drive (or appropriate directory), double click "setup.exe"
3. Follow the installation instructions.

Installation Requirements:
--------------------------

1. The Windows 2000 server must be running Remote Install Services (RIS)
2. The server must be running DHCP and have a valid range of free IP lease
   addresses
3. "Maintenance and Troubleshooting" must be enabled on the server. To enable
   this:

	1. Click Start\Programs\Administrative Tools\Active Directory Users
	   and Computers
	2. Right-click the appropriate domain, select Properties
	3. Click the Group Policy tab, choose Default Domain Policy, and
	   click Edit
	4. Under User Configuration in the left pane, click the "+" on
	   Windows Settings
	5. Highlight Remote Installation Services
	6. Double-click Choice Options in the right pane
	7. Change the Tools option to "Allow"
	8. Click Apply, then OK

Using Intel IBA Tools
---------------------

Once the IBA Tools server requirements are met and IBA Tools are installed
on the RIS Server, you can boot a client machine via PXE and use any of
these tools. Simply boot the client machine via PXE, enter the user name,
password, and domain, and select the tool you would like to use from the
menu. Note: The client machine must be set to boot from PXE before any
other devices. The image will be transferred from the server to the client
machine, and the client will boot, loading the selected tool. All four
tools will be transferred, so you can run additional tools from the command
line without having to reboot the client.
